How turn-by-turn guidance works

Starting guidance

1. Open a route and tap Start Route.
2. Travel to the route starting point.
3. When you are close enough, start or join the route to begin turn-by-turn guidance.

Directions are not shown while you are travelling to the start. Tap Tap for more if you need additional information about reaching or joining the route.

Following the route

Once you have started or joined the route, guidance banners show the next instruction and the remaining distance to it.

• The instruction updates as you move along the route.
• Guidance pauses when the activity is paused.
• Directions are hidden if you leave the route and return when route guidance can continue.
• No turn instructions are shown before you start or join the route.

Turn spoken directions on or off

Spoken directions can read upcoming instructions aloud so that you do not need to keep looking at the screen.

1. Start a route and open the activity tools.
2. Find Spoken directions.
3. Use the switch to turn spoken guidance on or off.

Spoken directions are off by default. Your preference is remembered for future routes.
