Route overview

About this route

A tough and rarely travelled loop linking Raven Crag, High Seat, High Tove and Armboth Fell, crossing some of the boggiest, roughest ground in the Lake District. The route begins with a steep forest climb to Raven Crag before continuing over broken, pathless moorland to High Seat. From here, expect deep, unavoidable bogs as you traverse the notorious Pewits to reach High Tove and Armboth Fell. The return follows forestry tracks and more wet ground underfoot. Navigation is challenging, terrain is often sodden and slow-going, and the sense of remoteness is real. This is a serious fell day for experienced walkers only. Not suitable for dogs.
