Cat Bells Circular

A short but thrilling circular route that climbs the iconic summit of Catbells. Despite its modest length, this compact route packs in steep ascents, short hands-on scrambles and one of the most rewarding panoramic views the Lake District has to offer, taking in Derwent Water, Skiddaw and the Newlands Valley. The descent follows a quieter return route that contrasts nicely with the exposed summit ridge. The walk can be started near Hawes End, with the option to arrive via the Keswick Launch ferry which stops at Hawes End jetty. This offers a scenic and stress-free way to access the route. With rocky terrain, exposed sections and the possibility of changing weather, this punchy little route is best suited to confident walkers. Dogs are welcome but may need to be on a lead near livestock and trickier sections.
