Temperature markers provide a quick estimate for important points along a route. They can help show how temperature may change as the route gains height.

Show temperature markers

  1. Open a route and expand its route map.
  2. Tap Layers.
  3. Turn on Temperature markers.
  4. Close the layers panel to view the markers.

Temperature Markers is a Go Guide Premium feature and requires an internet connection to obtain forecast information.

Where markers appear

Depending on the shape of the route, markers can appear at:

  • Start: the beginning of the route.
  • Highest: the highest recorded point.
  • End: the end of a point-to-point route.
  • Start / Finish: a shared marker when the route returns close to its starting point.

How temperatures are estimated

Go Guide starts with the current forecast temperature near the beginning of the route. It then adjusts the estimate for the elevation of each marked point.

Air temperature generally decreases with height, so the estimated temperature at the highest point may be lower than at the start.

Use the markers when planning

  • Compare the start and highest-point estimates.
  • Allow for colder and windier conditions on exposed high ground.
  • Open the full route weather view for precipitation, wind and additional forecast information.
  • Check a specialist mountain forecast where appropriate.
